Educational Q&A

The verse highlights dharma as the faithful performance of prescribed rites (vidhi), especially the duty of relatives to honor the dead through proper saṃskāras, using sanctified materials and correct procedure.

Relatives conduct the cremation of two deceased persons, using fragrant sandalwood mixed with tuṅga and padmaka and other aromatics, with Yudhiṣṭhira overseeing the rite in accordance with tradition.
