कर्णप्रवेशः—रङ्गे द्वन्द्वयुद्धप्रस्तावः तथा अङ्गराज्याभिषेकः

पुरुहृतादयं जज्ञे कुन्त्यामेव धनंजय: । यस्य कीर्तिमिहेष्वासान्‌ सर्वानभिभविष्यति,“यह तीसरा पुत्र धनंजय है, जो इन्द्रके अंशसे कुन्तीके ही गर्भसे उत्पन्न हुआ है। इसकी कीर्ति समस्त बड़े-बड़े धनुर्धरोंको तिरस्कृत कर देगी

puruhṛtādayaṁ jajñe kuntyām eva dhanañjayaḥ | yasya kīrtim iheṣvāsān sarvān abhibhaviṣyati |

ไวศัมปายนะกล่าวว่า—จากปุรุหูตะ (พระอินทร์) ธนัญชัยได้บังเกิดในครรภ์ของกุนตีโดยแท้ ในโลกนี้เกียรติยศของเขาจะเหนือกว่าพรานธนูผู้ยิ่งใหญ่ทั้งปวง.
