पुरुहृतादयं जज्ञे कुन्त्यामेव धनंजय: । यस्य कीर्तिमिहेष्वासान् सर्वानभिभविष्यति,“यह तीसरा पुत्र धनंजय है, जो इन्द्रके अंशसे कुन्तीके ही गर्भसे उत्पन्न हुआ है। इसकी कीर्ति समस्त बड़े-बड़े धनुर्धरोंको तिरस्कृत कर देगी
puruhṛtādayaṁ jajñe kuntyām eva dhanañjayaḥ | yasya kīrtim iheṣvāsān sarvān abhibhaviṣyati |
ไวศัมปายนะกล่าวว่า—จากปุรุหูตะ (พระอินทร์) ธนัญชัยได้บังเกิดในครรภ์ของกุนตีโดยแท้ ในโลกนี้เกียรติยศของเขาจะเหนือกว่าพรานธนูผู้ยิ่งใหญ่ทั้งปวง.
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse highlights the idea that extraordinary capability can be viewed as divinely endowed, but its true worth is proven when used in alignment with dharma—fame is not merely personal glory but a responsibility that will later be measured by ethical action.
Vaiśampāyana identifies Dhanañjaya (Arjuna) as Kuntī’s son born from Indra (Puruhūta) and prophesies that Arjuna’s renown will surpass all other archers, setting up his future role as the foremost bowman among the heroes.
