तथैनं बलिनां श्रेष्ठ तस्य राज्ञो महात्मन: । मातरिश्वा ददौ पुत्र भीम॑ नाम महाबलम्,“उसी प्रकार उन महात्मा राजाको साक्षात् वायु देवताने यह महाबली भीम नामक पुत्र प्रदान किया है, जो समस्त बलवानोंमें श्रेष्ठ है
tathaiva enaṃ balināṃ śreṣṭha tasya rājño mahātmanaḥ | mātariśvā dadau putra bhīmaṃ nāma mahābalam ||
ไวศัมปายนะกล่าวว่า—ฉันนั้นแล, โอ้ผู้ประเสริฐในหมู่ผู้มีกำลัง! มาตริศวาน (เทพวายุ) ได้ประทานโอรสผู้มีกำลังมหาศาลแก่พระราชามหาตมะนั้น นามว่า ภีมะ—ผู้จะยืนเด่นเป็นเลิศในหมู่ผู้ทรงพลังทั้งปวง.
