Educational Q&A

The verse emphasizes inevitability: once a divinely sanctioned boon or destined course is set in motion, it does not become ‘otherwise.’ It points to a moral-causal order where outcomes follow established causes rather than personal wish.

Vyāsa addresses Saubalī (commonly understood as Gāndhārī) and confirms that what is occurring is exactly as stated/ordained—consistent with his boon—and that the situation will not deviate from that determined course.
