वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse highlights the traditional ethic that rightful timing (prāptakāla) and auspicious signs (lakṣaṇa) are read as indicators of a divinely ordered destiny, especially in the birth of a ruler, thereby intensifying the moral responsibility expected of him.
Vaiśampāyana reports that the queen gives birth at the proper time to a son named Pāṇḍu, who is described as marked by auspicious features and shining with splendor, foreshadowing his prominence in the Kuru lineage.
