Educational Q&A

The passage foregrounds satya (truthfulness) and accountability: a public statement made before rulers, invoking sages and gods as witnesses, gains moral weight. It also highlights filial duty (pituḥ kṛte), presenting personal resolve as grounded in responsibility toward one’s father.

Gāḍeya addresses the Dāśa/Niṣāda king in a formal, public setting, calling on all present—human rulers and unseen witnesses—to hear. He asserts the authority of his speech and announces that what he is about to say is truthful and motivated by concern for his father.
