अथोर्ध्वं दन्तजननात् सपिण्डानामशौचकम् / एकरात्रं निर्गुणानां चैलादूर्ध्वं त्रिरात्रकम्

ต่อจากนั้น—เมื่อฟันของเด็กเริ่มงอก—ญาติสปิณฑะพึงถืออศौจ. สำหรับผู้เป็น ‘นิรคุณ’ (ไม่เข้าเกณฑ์พิธี) มีเพียงหนึ่งคืน; แต่เมื่อถึงขั้นได้รับผ้า/เครื่องนุ่งห่ม (ไจละ) แล้ว ให้ถือสามคืน
