Brahmā’s Lotus-Birth, the Sealing of the Cosmic Womb, and the Epiphany of Parameśvara
Hari–Hara Samanvaya
ऋषय ऊचुः कथितो भवता सर्गो मुख्यादीनां जनार्दन / इदानीं संशयं चेममस्माकं छेत्तुमर्हसि
ṛṣaya ūcuḥ kathito bhavatā sargo mukhyādīnāṃ janārdana / idānīṃ saṃśayaṃ cemamasmākaṃ chettumarhasi
The sages (Ṛṣis)
Primary Rasa: shanta
Secondary Rasa: adbhuta
Indirectly: the sages address Janārdana as the authoritative revealer of sarga, implying a transcendent knower who can clarify doubts beyond the evolving tattvas like Mahat—pointing to the Supreme as the ground and guide of cosmological knowledge.
No specific practice is prescribed in this verse; it establishes the method of śravaṇa (reverent listening) and doubt-removal (saṃśaya-ccheda), a prerequisite for yogic and jñāna-oriented discipline later emphasized in the Kurma Purana’s Pāśupata and devotional teachings.
By situating cosmology within a Purāṇic dialogue to Janārdana, it supports the Kurma Purana’s broader synthesis: the same Supreme Lord who explains creation is ultimately harmonized with Śaiva and Vaiṣṇava theological frames elsewhere in the text.
