FAQs

This verse is primarily cosmographical, giving the Sun’s dimensions; indirectly, it supports the Purāṇic vision of an ordered cosmos (pramāṇa) that can be contemplated as a manifestation of Īśvara’s regulating intelligence rather than as a direct statement about Ātman.

No specific yogic technique is taught in this line; however, such measured descriptions of the solar maṇḍala are traditionally used as aids for dhyāna on cosmic order (ṛta/pramāṇa), aligning the mind with steadiness and clarity before higher teachings such as those found in the Kurma Purana’s later yoga-oriented sections.

The verse does not explicitly mention Śiva or Viṣṇu; its contribution is thematic—Purāṇic cosmology is presented as a shared sacred framework across Śaiva–Vaiṣṇava synthesis, where the same measured universe is upheld by the one sovereign divine principle honored through multiple names.
