Adhyāya 25 — Liṅga-māhātmya (The Chapter on the Liṅga): Hari’s Śiva-Worship and the Fiery Pillar Theophany
japed vāharaharnityaṃ brahmaloke mahīyate / evamāha mahāyogī kṛṣṇadvaipāyanaḥ prabhuḥ
Kṛṣṇa-Dvaipāyana Vyāsa (as cited authority within the narration)
Primary Rasa: shanta
Secondary Rasa: vira
By emphasizing steady japa as a daily discipline, the verse points to inner recollection and purification of consciousness—conditions through which the Self is realized, even if the verse itself frames the fruit as exaltation in Brahma-loka.
The practice is mantra-japa performed regularly twice daily (morning and evening), a foundational sādhana in Purāṇic yoga traditions that supports concentration (dhāraṇā), steadiness of mind, and devotional alignment.
Indirectly: it foregrounds a shared, pan-sectarian discipline—japa—valued across Śaiva and Vaiṣṇava streams in the Kūrma Purāṇa’s synthetic approach, where practice and realization are prioritized over sectarian difference.
