Brahmā’s Boons, Hiraṇyakaśipu’s Cosmic Tyranny, and Prahlāda’s Transcendental Qualities
evaṁ labdha-varo daityo bibhrad dhemamayaṁ vapuḥ bhagavaty akarod dveṣaṁ bhrātur vadham anusmaran
A demoniac person, in spite of acquiring all the opulences possible to obtain in this universe, continues to be envious of the Supreme Personality of Godhead.
Because he repeatedly remembered that Bhagavān had killed his brother Hiraṇyākṣa, and that remembrance turned into intense dveṣa (envy/hatred) toward the Lord.
Śukadeva Gosvāmī is narrating to King Parīkṣit, describing Hiraṇyakaśipu’s condition after receiving boons and becoming fixed in hostility toward Bhagavān.
Obsessive remembrance of injury and loss fuels hatred; redirecting remembrance toward the Lord and dharmic wisdom transforms the heart and prevents destructive envy.
