Parīkṣit’s Vow on the Gaṅgā and the Advent of Śukadeva Gosvāmī
स संवृतस्तत्र महान् महीयसां ब्रह्मर्षिराजर्षिदेवर्षिसङ्घै: । व्यरोचतालं भगवान् यथेन्दु- र्ग्रहर्क्षतारानिकरै: परीत: ॥ ३० ॥
sa saṁvṛtas tatra mahān mahīyasāṁ brahmarṣi-rājarṣi-devarṣi-saṅghaiḥ vyarocatālaṁ bhagavān yathendur graharkṣa-tārā-nikaraiḥ parītaḥ
ณ ที่นั้น ศรีศุกเทว โคสวามีถูกห้อมล้อมด้วยหมู่พรหมฤๅษี ราชฤๅษี และเทวฤๅษี ดุจพระจันทร์ที่งามยิ่งเมื่อรายล้อมด้วยดาว เคราะห์ และหมู่ดารา ฉันใด ท่านผู้ประเสริฐก็ฉายรัศมีงดงามและเป็นที่เคารพของทุกคนฉันนั้น
In the great assembly of saintly personalities, there was Vyāsadeva the brahmarṣi, Nārada the devarṣi, Paraśurāma the great ruler of the kṣatriya kings, etc. Some of them were powerful incarnations of the Lord. Śukadeva Gosvāmī was not known as brahmarṣi, rājarṣi or devarṣi, nor was he an incarnation like Nārada, Vyāsa or Paraśurāma. And yet he excelled them in respects paid. This means that the devotee of the Lord is more honored in the world than the Lord Himself. One should therefore never minimize the importance of a devotee like Śukadeva Gosvāmī.
Because he radiated spiritual brilliance and serenity, and the surrounding sages enhanced the scene—like stars and planets surrounding the full moon.
It shows that realized knowledge of Bhāgavata-dharma commands reverence across all orders—saints, saintly kings, and celestial sages—highlighting the supreme authority of pure devotion and transcendental wisdom.
Seek genuine saintly association and prioritize hearing authentic spiritual teachings; transformative understanding often arises in the presence of realized devotees and serious spiritual communities.
