कैकेयो धृष्टकेतुश्च श्रुतकीर्तिमविन्दत । सन्तर्दनादयस्तस्यां पञ्चासन्कैकया: सुता: ॥ ३८ ॥

They are figures in the royal genealogies: Dhṛṣṭaketu of the Kaikeya line marries Śrutakīrti, and through her come five sons, beginning with Santardana.
Canto 9 preserves the dynastic histories of saintly and royal families, establishing the flow of dharma and the historical setting leading toward the appearance and pastimes of Bhagavān in later narratives.
It highlights the Bhagavatam’s careful preservation of sacred history—encouraging readers to honor lineage, responsibility, and dharma, and to see human life within a larger spiritual narrative.
