Puruṣa-sūkta Logic of the Virāṭ: Cosmic Anatomy, Sacrifice, and the Lord’s Transcendence
गतयो मतयश्चैव प्रायश्चित्तं समर्पणम् । पुरुषावयवैरेते सम्भारा: सम्भृता मया ॥ २७ ॥
gatayo matayaś caiva prāyaścittaṁ samarpaṇam puruṣāvayavair ete sambhārāḥ sambhṛtā mayā
ทั้งหนทางและเจตนา การชดใช้บาป (ปรายัศจิตตะ) และการถวายมอบ—เครื่องประกอบยัญญะทั้งหมดนี้ ข้าพเจ้ารวบรวมจากอวัยวะแห่งพระปุรุษผู้เป็นองค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้า
In this verse, special stress is given to the person of the Supreme Lord, and not to His impersonal brahmajyoti, as being the source of all supplies. Nārāyaṇa, the Supreme Lord, is the goal of sacrificial results, and therefore the Vedic hymns are ultimately meant for attaining this goal. Human life is thus made successful by pleasing Nārāyaṇa and getting entrance into the direct association of Nārāyaṇa in the spiritual kingdom of Vaikuṇṭha.
This verse groups atonement together with dedication (samarpaṇam), indicating that true purification is completed when one offers oneself and one’s actions to the Supreme Person.
In the context of describing the Lord’s universal form, he explains that even our movements, thoughts, and remedies like atonement are ultimately situated within—and meant to be offered to—the Supreme Person.
