पुरा नारदशापेन वृक्षतां प्रापितौ मदात् । नलकूवरमणिग्रीवाविति ख्यातौ श्रियान्वितौ ॥ २३ ॥

Transliteration

purā nārada-śāpena vṛkṣatāṁ prāpitau madāt nalakūvara-maṇigrīvāv iti khyātau śriyānvitau

Translation

ในชาติก่อน ทั้งสองผู้เป็นที่รู้จักว่า นลกูวระ และ มณิคริวะ มีความมั่งคั่งและสิริมงคลยิ่งนัก; แต่เพราะความเมาในทิฐิและศักดิ์ศรีเทียม จึงถูกนารทมุนีสาปให้เป็นต้นไม้
