Vasudeva and Devakī Glorify Kṛṣṇa and Balarāma; The Recovery of Devakī’s Six Sons from Sutala
ita etān praṇeṣyāmo mātṛ-śokāpanuttaye tataḥ śāpād vinirmaktā lokaṁ yāsyanti vijvarāḥ
As pointed out by Śrīla Prabhupāda in his purports to Chapter Two, texts 5 and 8, of this canto, Marīci’s sons were condemned for their offense against Lord Brahmā, and in addition Hiraṇyakaśipu once cursed them to be killed by their own father in a future life. This curse was fulfilled by Vasudeva’s letting Kaṁsa murder them one by one.
In this verse, Kṛṣṇa declares He will take the sons back specifically to remove the mother’s sorrow, showing the Lord’s personal compassion and protection for His devotees.
Because Devakī’s lamentation was to be relieved; Kṛṣṇa’s act is both a tender family līlā and a divine assurance that He intervenes to restore devotees’ peace.
Bring grief and fear to God in prayer and devotion; this verse emphasizes trusting that the Lord can transform suffering and lead one beyond distress toward spiritual well-being.
