Balarāma Slays the Ape Dvivida
Dvivida-vadha
evaṁ nihatya dvividaṁ jagad-vyatikarāvaham saṁstūyamāno bhagavān janaiḥ sva-puram āviśat
Thus end the purports of the humble servants of His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupāda to the Tenth Canto, Sixty-seventh Chapter, of the Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam, entitled “Lord Balarāma Slays Dvivida Gorilla.”
This verse states that Kṛṣṇa killed Dvivida, who was causing upheaval in the world, showing the Lord’s role in restoring order and protecting society.
Because Dvivida’s violence and chaos afflicted the public; when Kṛṣṇa removed that threat, the relieved people naturally glorified the Lord for His protection.
It teaches that true leadership and divine-centered living reduce harm and restore peace—devotees can support dharma by resisting destructive influences and praising what is genuinely uplifting.
