Pradyumna’s Abduction, Mahā-māyā, and the Slaying of Śambara
ratir uvāca bhavān nārāyaṇa-sutaḥ śambareṇa hṛto gṛhāt ahaṁ te ’dhikṛtā patnī ratiḥ kāmo bhavān prabho
Rati speaks, identifying the person before her as Kāma (Cupid) and stating that she is his rightful wife, while recalling that he was kidnapped by the demon Śambara.
She brings up Śambara to explain the cause of their separation—Śambara had abducted Kāma (in this narrative context) from his home, leading to the events that brought them together again.
Even amid confusion and separation, truth can be restored through clear remembrance of one’s real identity and rightful relationships, guided by dharma and devotion.
