Sukta 8
tásyedáṃ várcas téjaḥ prāṇám ā́yur ní veṣṭayāmi | idám enam adharā́ñcam pādayāmi
His lustre, his fiery might, his breath, his life—these I wrap fast about; this man I make downward-turned, I press him down.
Rishi: Atharvanic tradition (specific r̥ṣi attribution varies by anukramaṇī for AV 16.8)
Devata: Bandhana/Stambhana (binding/paralysis power); implicitly the priestly brahman as efficacious force
Chandas: Mixed/prose-like Atharvanic cadence; not a strict RV-style metrical pāda in this form
{"primary_rasa":"raudra","secondary_rasa":"vira","emotional_arc":"From seizure of faculties to decisive inversion and suppression.","listener_experience":"Forceful dominance; sense of overpowering the opponent.","intensity":9}
