FAQs

It prescribes an abhiṣeka (consecratory bathing) using specially prepared waters—barley-water and water infused with auspicious items (flowers, fruits, precious metals/gems) and medicinal herbs—poured in many streams (dhārā-sahasra).

It blends temple-ritual procedure (pūjā/abhiṣeka) with material culture (gold, gems) and proto-medical/ayurvedic logic (auṣadhi-jala), showing how the Agni Purana systematizes practical worship methods alongside therapeutic substances.

Such abhiṣeka is presented as a potent purifier and sanctifier—externally cleansing and ritually consecrating the deity/altar (and by extension the patron), thereby supporting merit (puṇya) and auspiciousness (śubha) through sacred, carefully prepared offerings.
