Vidya Category: {"primary_vidya":"Vastu","secondary_vidya":"Shilpa","practical_application":"Planning subsidiary/secondary constructions and allocating setback/open land around the main structure using proportional rules (fivefold land or dhāna-based measure) and sequencing of auxiliary components beginning with sthiti.","sutra_style":true}

Encyclopedic Reference: {"reference_type":"Procedure","entry_title":"Upakarma-vinyāsa: sthiti-ādi aṅga-yojana and bhūmi-parityāga (5-guṇa / dhāna-māna)","lookup_keywords":["vāstu","sthiti-ādi","upakarma","pañcaguṇā bhūmi","dhāna-māna"],"quick_summary":"For subsidiary works, auxiliary parts are to be laid out in an ordered sequence (starting with sthiti), while reserving/opening land by a fivefold proportion to the main building or by a standard unit (dhāna) measure."}

Concept: Right proportion and sequencing (krama) govern successful construction; ‘lower’ works still require learned measurement discipline.

Application: Use standardized units and proportional setbacks to prevent congestion, ensure circulation, and maintain vāstu harmony.

Khanda Section: Vastu-vidya (Architectural Planning, Site-Selection, and Measurements)

Primary Rasa: shanta

Secondary Rasa: adbhuta

Visual Art Cues: {"scene_description":"Architect-sage marking a site with cords and pegs, indicating the main building footprint and the reserved open land around it (fivefold or dhāna-measured), while listing auxiliary components beginning with sthiti.","kerala_mural_prompt":"Kerala mural, master sthapati with measuring cord, pegs, and a square plan, annotated zones of reserved land around a central dhāman, stylized tools, earthy palette and bold outlines.","tanjore_prompt":"Tanjore style, central building plan framed with gold, sthapati holding measuring rod, highlighted reserved perimeter (pañcaguṇa) with decorative motifs, rich jewel tones.","mysore_prompt":"Mysore painting, clean instructional layout: plan-view diagram with labeled sthiti-ādi auxiliaries, dhāna unit marks, fine lines and soft colors, emphasis on measurement clarity.","mughal_miniature_prompt":"Mughal miniature, workshop scene with architects and scribes, cords stretched across a plot, a folio showing dhāna measures, detailed ground textures and instruments."}

FAQs

It teaches Vastu-vidya zoning: for secondary/lesser functions, experts should plan auxiliary layout components (beginning with ‘sthiti’) while reserving land by a proportional rule (fivefold of the main residence) or by a fixed standard unit (dhāna).

It shows the text functioning as a practical manual: alongside theology, it preserves technical standards of architecture—plot proportions, measurement units, and planning sequences—typical of the Agni Purana’s multi-disciplinary scope.

Correct spatial planning is treated as dharmic order in built space; following prescribed measures helps ensure purity, stability, and auspiciousness of a dwelling or sacred structure, reducing defects (doṣa) and supporting meritorious outcomes.
