Concept: Ritual efficacy depends on saṃskāra and saṃniveśa (proper ordering/placement); even scattered elements are recollected into order.

Application: Maintain procedural discipline: collect scattered materials with kuśa (as purifier) and place the deity’s seat in the most auspicious quadrant (NE).

Khanda Section: Puja-vidhi (Saurārcana / Sūrya-pūjā and ritual arrangement)

Primary Rasa: Shanta

Secondary Rasa: Adbhuta

Type: Directional quadrant of mandapa/mandala

FAQs

It teaches a precise pūjā-handling step: after strewing ritual items/offerings, they are gathered using a kuśa-kūrca and then arranged as an āsana (ritual seat) on the vardhanī in the Īśāna (north-east) direction for Sūrya worship.

Beyond theology, it preserves practical liturgical engineering—how to manipulate offerings, what implement to use (kuśakūrca), and where to place items (Īśāna direction, vardhanī). This procedural detail exemplifies the Agni Purāṇa’s broad, manual-like coverage of ritual technique.

Ritual orderliness—purified handling with kuśa and correct directional placement—supports śuddhi (purity) and saṃskāra (proper consecration), aligning the worshipper with auspicious spatial sanctity (Īśāna) and thereby strengthening the merit (puṇya) of Sūryārcana.
