Encyclopedic Reference: {"reference_type":"Procedure","entry_title":"Dhvaja-stambha Assembly: Aṇḍa–Kalaśa–Dhvaja–Vimba Proportions","lookup_keywords":["aṇḍa","kalaśa","dhvaja","vimba","daṇḍa-tribhāga"],"quick_summary":"Install the kalaśa above the aṇḍa, place the dhvaja above that, and proportion the vimba and its placement by stated fractions of the staff (daṇḍa) for correct temple flagstaff construction."}

Concept: Sacred architecture is governed by measurable proportion (māna) and ordered placement (viniveśa) to align ritual function with cosmic symbolism.

Application: Use stated fractional measures when fabricating and installing dhvaja-stambha elements to maintain canonical correctness and ritual efficacy.

FAQs

It gives a Vāstu/temple-ritual specification for the vertical sequence and proportional sizing on a dhvaja-stambha: aṇḍa → kalaśa → dhvaja, with the vimba/disc dimensioned in relation to the staff’s measured portions.

Beyond theology, it preserves practical architectural canons—precise placement and proportional rules for temple fixtures—showing the text’s coverage of applied sciences like Vāstu-vidyā alongside ritual procedure.

Correctly proportioned and ritually arranged temple emblems (flagstaff, finials, and banner) are treated as upholding auspicious order (maṅgala) in worship, supporting purity of installation and the efficacy of temple rites.
