Vidya Category: {"primary_vidya":"Tantra","secondary_vidya":"Mantra","practical_application":"Bhūta-śuddhi/saṃhāra-krama: internal dissolution of gross elements into subtler principles using vāyu regulation and agni-bīja to kindle and then withdraw inner fire, culminating in merging into ākāśa.","sutra_style":true}

Encyclopedic Reference: {"reference_type":"Procedure","entry_title":"Elemental dissolution: Pṛthvī→Vāyu, Agni kindling, Vāyu→Ākāśa","lookup_keywords":["bhūta-śuddhi","saṃhāra-krama","agni-bīja","vāyu","ākāśa"],"quick_summary":"Perform inner dissolution by merging earth into wind, igniting inner fire with the fire-seed, withdrawing fire by wind, and finally leading wind into ether—purifying the subtle body for higher worship/meditation."}

Concept: Saṃhāra as an inward yogic process: the practitioner reverses manifestation by dissolving elements into subtler substrates, preparing for non-dual absorption.

Application: Use breath-led visualization (vāyu) with mantra-seed (agni-bīja) to refine attention; proceed stepwise without strain, prioritizing steadiness and clarity.

Khanda Section: Agneya-vidya (Bhuta-shuddhi and elemental yoga/dharana practices)

Primary Rasa: adbhuta

Secondary Rasa: shanta

Visual Art Cues: {"scene_description":"A yogic internal diagram-like scene: earth element dissolving into wind currents, a flame ignited by a seed-syllable, then flame drawn back into wind, wind rising into open ether/space.","kerala_mural_prompt":"Kerala mural, stylized elemental symbols: earth as square/green-brown, wind as swirling lines, fire as red-gold flame, ether as blue void; yogin centered, bold iconographic clarity.","tanjore_prompt":"Tanjore, gold-highlighted fire and subtle ether halo, yogin with ornate but controlled composition, elemental emblems arranged in a vertical dissolution sequence.","mysore_prompt":"Mysore style, instructional chart aesthetic: labeled elements (pṛthvī, vāyu, agni, ākāśa), arrows showing dissolution, calm yogin figure, soft colors for readability.","mughal_miniature_prompt":"Mughal miniature, allegorical elements as personified motifs around a meditating figure, delicate clouds for ether, fine flame rendering, dynamic wind swirls in miniature detail."}

FAQs

It teaches a bhūta-śuddhi sequence: dissolving gross elements into subtler ones (Earth → Wind), kindling inner fire with the fire bīja, then withdrawing Fire into Wind and Wind into Ether.

Alongside mythology and dharma, the Agni Purana preserves practical yogic–tantric procedures (elemental meditation, bīja-mantra application, and subtle dissolution), showing its coverage of inner ritual technology as well as external rites.

Elemental dissolution and bīja-based inner purification are presented as a means to cleanse subtle impurities, stabilize meditation, and prepare the practitioner for higher contemplative states by reversing identification with the gross elements.
