Dosha: Pitta

Concept: Contextual medicine: deśa and climate shape doṣa expression; ‘moderate’ habitats reduce extremes, while aridity tends toward pitta aggravation.

Application: For clinical history-taking, include residence/travel and local ecology; pre-empt seasonal flares by aligning regimen with deśa tendencies.

Khanda Section: Ayurveda (Desha–Kala–Prakriti: regional habitat classification for dosha predominance)

Primary Rasa: shanta

Type: Kingdom

Visual Art Cues: {"scene_description":"Three-tier habitat teaching: sādhāraṇa with modest trees and a small water source; jāṅgala dry and sunlit indicating pitta; a teacher compares them for students.","kerala_mural_prompt":"Kerala mural, tri-panel didactic landscape: moderate sādhāraṇa with few trees and a small pond, dry jāṅgala with bright sun and sparse shrubs, teacher-vaidya pointing with palm-leaf text; strong outlines, flat color fields","tanjore_prompt":"Tanjore, ornate educational tableau: central teacher with gold halo-like arch, side vignettes of sādhāraṇa and jāṅgala; sun rendered with gold embossing to signify pitta heat; rich decorative borders","mysore_prompt":"Mysore painting, clean pedagogic illustration: labeled ‘sādhāraṇa’ and ‘jāṅgala (pitta-bahula)’, small icons for cooling measures (water pot, shade tree), soft palette and precise linework","mughal_miniature_prompt":"Mughal miniature, realistic terrain study: moderate countryside with a streamlet vs arid plain under intense sun; physician-scholar annotating on a folio, students observing, fine botanical detail"}

FAQs

Ayurvedic habitat (deśa) classification: it notes that arid jāṅgala regions tend to increase pitta, while intermediate/middle regions are considered sādhāraṇa (balanced), guiding diet and treatment choices.

It preserves applied Ayurvedic theory—medical geography and doṣa-prakopa—within a Purāṇic text, showing that the Agni Purana compiles practical sciences (like Ayurveda) alongside theology and ritual.

By promoting right living aligned with one’s environment (deśa), it supports dharmic self-care and bodily balance, which traditional thought treats as a foundation for steady sādhana, clarity, and disciplined conduct.
