अमावास्यादिने प्राप्ते गृहद्वारं समाश्रिता । वायुभूताः प्रवांछन्ति श्राद्धं पितृगणा नृणाम् । यावदस्तमयं भानोः क्षुत्पिपासास माकुलाः

amāvāsyādine prāpte gṛhadvāraṃ samāśritā | vāyubhūtāḥ pravāṃchanti śrāddhaṃ pitṛgaṇā nṛṇām | yāvadastamayaṃ bhānoḥ kṣutpipāsāsa mākulāḥ

అమావాస్య దినము వచ్చినప్పుడు పితృగణులు వాయుస్వరూప సూక్ష్ములై మనుష్యుల గృహద్వారముల వద్ద నిలిచి, శ్రాద్ధాన్ని ఆకాంక్షించుదురు; సూర్యాస్తమయం వరకు ఆకలి దాహాలతో కలవరపడుదురు।
