मार्कंडेय उवाच । अग्निहोत्रफला वेदाः शीलवृत्तफलं श्रुतम् । रतिपुत्रफला दारा दत्तभुक्तफलं धनम्

Transliteration

mārkaṃḍeya uvāca | agnihotraphalā vedāḥ śīlavṛttaphalaṃ śrutam | ratiputraphalā dārā dattabhuktaphalaṃ dhanam

Translation

మార్కండేయుడు అన్నాడు—వేదాలు అగ్నిహోత్రంలో పరిపక్వమైతే ఫలప్రదమవుతాయి. శ్రవణ-అధ్యయనం శీలం, సదాచారంగా మారితే సఫలం. దాంపత్యం ప్రేమతోను సత్పుత్రసంతానంతోను ఫలిస్తుంది. ధనం దానమిచ్చి ధర్మపూర్వకంగా భోగిస్తే ఫలిస్తుంది.
