अविदस्तत्त्वतः सत्यं शपथेनाभिलंघयेत् । महर्षिभिश्च देवैश्च सत्यार्थाः शपथाः कृताः
avidastattvataḥ satyaṃ śapathenābhilaṃghayet | maharṣibhiśca devaiśca satyārthāḥ śapathāḥ kṛtāḥ
తత్త్వంగా సత్యాన్ని తెలియని వాడు శపథాన్ని ఆశ్రయించి సత్యాన్ని అతిక్రమించగలడు. అందుకే మహర్షులు మరియు దేవతలు సత్యరక్షణార్థమే శపథాలను స్థాపించారు।
