नारद उवाच । एवं विप्रकृता देवा महेंद्रसहितास्तदा । ययुः स्वायंभुवं दाम मर्करूपमुपाश्रिताः
nārada uvāca | evaṃ viprakṛtā devā maheṃdrasahitāstadā | yayuḥ svāyaṃbhuvaṃ dāma markarūpamupāśritāḥ
నారదుడు పలికెను—ఇలా బాధింపబడి దిగజారిన దేవతలు, మహేంద్రునితో కలిసి, అప్పుడు స్వయంభూ ప్రభువు ధామానికి వెళ్లారు; మర్కటరూపాన్ని ఆశ్రయించి (వేషధారణతో)।
