परेषामनपेक्ष्यैव कृतप्रतिकृतं हि यः । प्रवर्तते हितायैव स सुहृत्प्रोच्यते बुधैः

pareṣāmanapekṣyaiva kṛtapratikṛtaṃ hi yaḥ | pravartate hitāyaiva sa suhṛtprocyate budhaiḥ

ఇతరులపై ఆధారపడక, చేసిన ఉపకారానికి ప్రతిఉపకారం చేస్తూ, కేవలం పరహితార్థమే కార్యంలో ప్రవృత్తుడయ్యే వాడినే పండితులు ‘సుహృదుడు’ అని అంటారు।
