पृच्छमाना यदा देवै र्नाह ताराऽतिसत्रपा । तदा सा शप्तुमारब्धा कुमारेणातितेजसा
pṛcchamānā yadā devai rnāha tārā'tisatrapā | tadā sā śaptumārabdhā kumāreṇātitejasā
దేవతలు ప్రశ్నించగా, తీవ్రమైన లజ్జతో తార ఏ మాటా పలకలేకపోయింది. అప్పుడు అత్యంత తేజస్సుగల కుమారుడు (స్కందుడు) ఆమెను శపించుటకు ప్రారంభించాడు।
