etannaḥ śraddadhānānāṃ brūhi paurāṇikottama | tṛptirna jāyate' smākaṃ tvadvacomṛtapāyinām
Ṛṣis (sages) addressing Sūta
Listener: Sūta (addressed as ‘paurāṇikottama’)
Scene: Sages seated in a semicircle, eyes intent, hands folded; Sūta as revered storyteller; the atmosphere is ‘amṛta’—words flowing like nectar.
Faithful listening (śraddhā) to Purāṇic teaching is itself a devotional discipline that deepens longing for dharma and sacred truth.
The immediate verse is a narrative transition; the broader context continues the Dhanuskoṭi tīrtha account.
Śravaṇa (devout listening) to Purāṇic narration is implied as a meritorious practice.
