भूताष्टम्योः पञ्चदश्योर्ब्रह्मचारी सदा भवेत् । अनायुष्यकरं चेह परदारोपसर्पणम् । तस्मात्तद्दूरतस्त्याज्य वैरिणां चोपसेवनम्

Transliteration

bhūtāṣṭamyoḥ pañcadaśyorbrahmacārī sadā bhavet | anāyuṣyakaraṃ ceha paradāropasarpaṇam | tasmāttaddūratastyājya vairiṇāṃ copasevanam

Translation

భూతాష్టమీ, పంచదశీ రోజుల్లో ఎల్లప్పుడూ బ్రహ్మచర్యంలో స్థిరంగా ఉండాలి. పరస్త్రీ సమీపానికి పోవడం ఇక్కడ ఆయుష్షును హరించేది; కాబట్టి దానిని దూరం నుంచే విడిచిపెట్టాలి, అలాగే శత్రువుల సేవా-సాంగత్యమూ త్యజించాలి।
