Sthala Purana: Still within the meta-textual enumeration: Koṭirudra and Sahasra-koṭi-rudra are named as massive textual units, emphasizing immensity through Śaiva numerical idiom.
Significance: The rhetorical vastness (‘koṭi’, ‘sahasra-koṭi’) magnifies Śiva’s inexhaustible manifestations and the purāṇa’s scope, encouraging humility and sustained engagement.
It affirms the Purana’s own scriptural authority by giving an internal enumeration of its sections, reminding devotees that the Shaiva teaching is preserved in a carefully transmitted textual tradition centered on Rudra (Shiva).
By highlighting Rudra-designations within the scripture, it points to Saguna Shiva as the accessible focus of devotion described throughout the Purana—especially the Linga-centered modes of worship taught in the Vidyeshvara Saṃhitā.
The verse itself is about textual enumeration, but its practical takeaway is śravaṇa and pāṭha (listening and recitation) of Shiva Purana sections as a devotional discipline, ideally supported by japa of the Pañcākṣarī mantra (Om Namaḥ Śivāya).
