Tattva Level: pasha
Shiva Form: Sadāśiva
Sthala Purana: Not a specific sthala episode; the verse asserts the Śiva Purāṇa as a unifying pramāṇa that resolves rival claims of tīrthas by revealing Śiva-tattva and right means (upāya).
Significance: Śravaṇa/adhyayana of the Śiva Purāṇa is presented as a meta-tīrtha: it harmonizes and ‘crowns’ pilgrimage by giving correct knowledge and devotion to Śiva.
It teaches that the Śiva Purāṇa itself becomes the supreme purifier—surpassing rival claims of individual pilgrimage sites—because it reveals Pati (Śiva), the path of devotion, and the means to liberation through śravaṇa (hearing) and bhakti.
By elevating the Śiva Purāṇa above external tīrthas, the verse points seekers toward direct Śiva-upāsanā as taught in the text—especially reverence for the Śiva-liṅga (Saguna focus) as the accessible support for realizing the highest Śiva.
A key takeaway is Purāṇa-śravaṇa/paṭhana (hearing/recitation) with devotion, ideally alongside Śiva-mantra japa (such as the Pañcākṣarī “Om Namaḥ Śivāya”) and simple Śiva-pūjā, treating the scripture itself as a sacred tīrtha.
