वीरभद्रक्रोधशमनं देवस्तुतिश्च
Pacification of Vīrabhadra and the Gods’ Hymn
दक्ष उवाच । जय देव जगन्नाथ लोकानुग्रहकारक । कृपां कुरु महेशानापराधं मे क्षमस्व ह
dakṣa uvāca | jaya deva jagannātha lokānugrahakāraka | kṛpāṃ kuru maheśānāparādhaṃ me kṣamasva ha
దక్షుడు అన్నాడు—జయము నీకే, దేవా! జగన్నాథా, లోకాలకు అనుగ్రహకర్తా. మహేశానా, కరుణ చూపి నా అపరాధాన్ని క్షమించుము।
Daksha
Tattva Level: pashu
Shiva Form: Īśāna
It presents the Shaiva Siddhanta mood of surrender (śaraṇāgati): recognizing one’s aparādha (offense born of ego) and seeking Shiva’s anugraha (grace), which alone softens bondage and turns the soul toward liberation.
The prayer addresses Shiva as Maheśāna and Jagannātha—Saguna Shiva, the compassionate Lord who responds to devotion. Such repentance and praise are integral to Linga-worship, where the devotee approaches the manifest symbol to receive purification and grace.
A practical takeaway is daily kṣamā-prārthanā (a forgiveness prayer) before Shiva—offering water to the Linga while repeating “Om Namaḥ Śivāya,” and mentally confessing faults, seeking Maheśa’s compassion and inner transformation.
