Suta Goswami (traditional Purāṇic colophon framing to the sages of Naimiṣāraṇya)
Sthala Purana: Colophon marking the completion of the chapter narrating Śiva’s Śarabha-avatāra; functions as textual closure rather than a local shrine-origin account.
This is a concluding colophon that seals the teaching: the Śatarudra Saṃhitā presents Śiva’s countless saguna manifestations, affirming that the Supreme Pati compassionately assumes forms (like Śarabha) to protect dharma and guide devotees toward liberation.
By naming the chapter on Śarabha, it highlights saguna-upāsanā—devotion to Śiva’s manifest forms—while remaining consistent with Linga worship, since the Linga is the universal emblem through which the same Supreme Śiva is adored beyond and within all forms.
As an end-marker it prescribes no specific rite, but it supports regular Śiva-upāsanā: recitation of the Pañcākṣarī (“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”), worship with vibhūti (Tripuṇḍra) and rudrākṣa, and contemplative remembrance of Śiva’s protective grace.
