वृन्दायाः दुष्स्वप्न-दर्शनं तथा पातिव्रत्य-भङ्गोपक्रमः / Vṛndā’s Ominous Dreams and the Prelude to the Breach of Chastity
सनत्कुमार उपाच । विष्णुर्जालंधरं गत्वा दैत्यस्य पुटभेदनम् । पातिव्रत्यस्य भंगाय वृन्दायाश्चा करोन्मतिम्
sanatkumāra upāca | viṣṇurjālaṃdharaṃ gatvā daityasya puṭabhedanam | pātivratyasya bhaṃgāya vṛndāyāścā karonmatim
సనత్కుమారుడు పలికెను—విష్ణువు జాలంధరుని వద్దకు వెళ్లి, ఆ దైత్యుని రక్షణశక్తిని ఛేదించుటకును, వృందా యొక్క పతివ్రతాధర్మం భంగమగుటకును ఒక ఉపాయాన్ని ఆలోచించెను.

The verse highlights how worldly “protections” (pāśa) can hinge on dharmic power such as chastity; when that support is disrupted, the seemingly invincible egoic force (the demon’s might) becomes vulnerable—pointing to Shiva as the ultimate Pati beyond all contingent powers.
In the Yuddhakhaṇḍa narrative, battles and stratagems culminate in recognizing that all secondary powers are limited; devotion to Saguna Shiva (often centered on the Liṅga) is portrayed as the stable refuge when other protections fail.
A practical takeaway is to strengthen one’s dharma and devotion through Shiva-oriented sādhana—japa of the Pañcākṣarī (“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”) and regular worship—so inner protection arises from steadfast bhakti rather than fragile external supports.
