Narada
Tattva Level: pasha
Sthala Purana: Not a Jyotirliṅga episode; it interrogates the theological scandal of devas attending a yajña where Śiva is slighted.
Significance: Functions as a cautionary teaching: ritual divorced from Śiva-bhakti becomes spiritually defective; prompts devotees to prioritize Śiva’s honor in all rites.
Offering: naivedya
It highlights that avajñā (disrespect) toward Śiva—the supreme Pati and refuge of beings—creates spiritual downfall; even grand rituals become fruitless when devotion and right reverence are absent.
By questioning the neglect of Śiva, the verse implies that ritual power is grounded in honoring Śiva as the manifest (saguṇa) Lord worshipped as the Liṅga; excluding him from worship invites disorder and loss of merit.
Maintain Śiva-smaraṇa and Śiva-pūjā alongside any rite—especially japa of the Pañcākṣarī (Om Namaḥ Śivāya) and reverent observance (e.g., bhasma/Tripuṇḍra) to avoid the fault of avajñā.
