वीरभद्र–देवयुद्धवर्णनम्
Vīrabhadra and the Battle with the Devas
वरुणेन समं वीरो मुंडश्चैव महाबलः । युयुधे परया शक्त्या त्रिलोकीं विस्मयन्निव
varuṇena samaṃ vīro muṃḍaścaiva mahābalaḥ | yuyudhe parayā śaktyā trilokīṃ vismayanniva
వీరుడూ మహాబలవంతుడైన ముండుడు వరుణునితో సమానంగా యుద్ధం చేసెను; పరమశక్తితో పోరాడి త్రిలోకమును ఆశ్చర్యపరచినట్లుండెను।

The verse highlights how even mighty cosmic rulers like Varuṇa can face equally formidable opposition, underscoring the Shaiva Siddhanta view that all finite powers in the three worlds are limited and ultimately governed by Pati (Lord Shiva), the supreme Lord beyond worldly might.
By showing the three worlds amazed at displays of power, the narrative implicitly contrasts transient, created strength with the stable refuge of Saguna Shiva worship—symbolized by the Linga—through which devotees seek protection and grace beyond fluctuating cosmic battles.
A practical takeaway is to steady the mind amid ‘worldly astonishment’ by japa of the Panchakshara mantra (Om Namaḥ Śivāya) and, if following Shaiva observance, wearing Rudraksha and applying Tripuṇḍra (bhasma) as reminders that Shiva alone is the inner Lord of all powers.
