Sūta Gosvāmin
Tattva Level: pasha
Sthala Purana: Invocation of Tanūnapāt (a Vedic fire-deity aspect) multiplying forms to receive oblations intensifies the śrauta atmosphere; in the Dakṣa-yajña frame it heightens the irony that even fire-deities eagerly partake while Śiva is not duly honored.
Significance: Highlights the power of ritual precision and divine participation, yet implicitly points to the higher necessity of honoring Śiva as the ultimate Pati beyond the ritual economy.
Type: rudram
Offering: naivedya
It highlights the divine capacity to manifest in many forms to accept sincere offerings—showing that ritual becomes spiritually fruitful when aligned with reverence and right intention, a key Shaiva emphasis on devotion (bhakti) guiding action (karma).
The motif of ‘many forms’ supports Saguna worship: the One reality is approachable through manifest forms and sacred rites. In Shaiva understanding, offerings ultimately reach the Supreme (Pati) when performed with devotion, just as divine presence is invoked and received in worship, including Linga-pūjā.
Perform offerings with steadiness and purity—mentally dedicating the havis to Shiva while repeating a Shiva-mantra (such as the Panchākṣarī, “Om Namaḥ Śivāya”) to internalize that the divine receives the offering through consecrated forms.
