कामात्मानर्स्स्वर्गपराः क्रोधलोभमदान्विताः । भवंतु सततं विप्रा भिक्षुका निरपत्रपाः
kāmātmānarssvargaparāḥ krodhalobhamadānvitāḥ | bhavaṃtu satataṃ viprā bhikṣukā nirapatrapāḥ
ఆ బ్రాహ్మణులు కామవశులై, స్వర్గానికే పరులై, క్రోధ-లోభ-మదాలతో కూడినవారై ఉండుగాక. ఓ విప్రులారా, వారు ఎల్లప్పుడూ నిర్లజ్జ భిక్షుకులుగా ఉండుగాక।

The verse condemns dharma performed with impure motives—desire for heavenly reward and the inner poisons of anger, greed, and pride. In a Shaiva Siddhanta lens, such states strengthen pāśa (bondage) and block true Shiva-bhakti and liberation.
It contrasts reward-seeking ritualism with sincere devotion. Linga/Saguna Shiva worship is meant to purify the heart and orient the soul toward Pati (Shiva), not merely to accumulate merit for svarga; otherwise worship becomes external and spiritually fruitless.
The implied remedy is purification through Shiva-upāsanā: japa of the Pañcākṣarī (Om Namaḥ Śivāya) with humility, along with Shaiva disciplines like vibhūti (tripuṇḍra) and Rudrākṣa worn in devotion—practiced to reduce desire, anger, greed, and pride.
