Departure and Lament in Separation
iti śrīśivamahāpurāṇe brahmanāradasaṃvāde dvitīyāyāṃ rudrasaṃhitāyāṃ tṛtīye pārvatīkhaṇḍe śivakailāsagamanavarṇanaṃ nāma pañcapañcāśattamo'dhyāyaḥ
Sūta Gosvāmī (concluding colophon, preserving the Brahmā–Nārada dialogue)
This is a concluding colophon that seals the chapter’s teaching and lineage—placing the narration within the Brahmā–Nārada dialogue—reminding devotees that Purāṇic instruction is transmitted through authorized tradition (śruti-smṛti-paramparā) and should be received with reverence and steadiness of bhakti.
Although it is not a ritual injunction, the chapter-title “Śiva’s journey to Kailāsa” frames Saguna Śiva as the approachable Lord with divine abode and līlā; such framing supports devotional visualization, temple worship, and Liṅga-upāsanā as valid means to relate to Pati (Śiva) while progressing toward deeper realization.
A practical takeaway is to conclude recitation with mindful closure: offer the chapter’s merit to Śiva, remember Kailāsa as the symbol of divine presence, and repeat the Pañcākṣarī mantra “Om Namaḥ Śivāya” in japa as a daily anchor of devotion.
