अध्याय ४९ — विवाहानुष्ठाने ब्रह्मणः काममोहः
Brahmā’s Enchantment by Desire during the Wedding Rites
मुहुर्मुहुरपश्यं वै तदंगं स्मरमोहितः । ततस्तद्दर्शनात्सद्यो वीर्यं मे प्राच्युतद्भुवि
muhurmuhurapaśyaṃ vai tadaṃgaṃ smaramohitaḥ | tatastaddarśanātsadyo vīryaṃ me prācyutadbhuvi
కామమోహితుడనై నేను పదేపదే ఆమె అంగములను చూడసాగాను. ఆ దర్శనము వల్ల వెంటనే నా వీర్యము భూమిపై పడింది.
Brahmā (narrating his experience, as framed within Sūta’s narration in the Rudra Saṃhitā)
Tattva Level: pasha
Shiva Form: Umāpati
Shakti Form: Pārvatī
Role: teaching
It illustrates how even exalted beings can be overpowered by kāma (desire), emphasizing the Shaiva Siddhanta teaching that liberation requires mastery over inner impulses through Shiva-oriented discipline and grace.
The episode contrasts sensory fascination with the stabilizing focus of Saguna Shiva worship—especially Linga-upāsanā—which redirects the mind from smara-moha toward Shiva, the Pati who loosens pasha (bondage).
A practical takeaway is steady japa of the Pañcākṣarī ("Om Namaḥ Śivāya") with restraint (brahmacarya), supported by Shaiva marks like bhasma (tripuṇḍra) and regular Shiva-pūjā to calm desire-driven agitation.
