Devas’ Hymn, Nandikeśvara’s Petition, and Śiva’s Rising from Samādhi
hariruvāca | sarvajñastvaṃ maheśāna tvaṃtaryāmyakhileśvaraḥ | kiṃ na jānāsi cittasthaṃ tathā vacmyapi śāsanāt
Vishnu (Hari)
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Sadāśiva
Significance: Affirms Śiva as antaryāmin (inner ruler): in Siddhānta, the Lord knows the paśu’s inner mala-bound intentions; pilgrimage is thus interiorized—truthful confession before the omniscient Lord.
Role: teaching
It affirms Śiva as Pati—the omniscient Lord and Antaryāmin who knows the inner movements of the mind—showing that all speech and action become meaningful when offered in humble obedience to Him.
Though Śiva is recognized as the formless inner ruler, the verse supports Saguna worship by modeling reverent address and surrender—key attitudes through which devotees approach the Śiva-liṅga as the accessible presence of the all-knowing Lord.
Practice inward recollection (smaraṇa) of Śiva as Antaryāmin while repeating the Pañcākṣarī—“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”—and cultivate humility: speak, act, and worship as an offering done under His divine command.
