(Questions on Tārakāsura and Śivā’s tapas) / “Inquiry into Tārakāsura’s origin and Śivā–Śiva narrative”
devānmuktvā sa vajrāṃgastataḥ provāca sādaram | śivabhakto'tiśuddhātmā nirvikāraḥ prasannadhīḥ
Suta Goswami (narrating the qualities and action of Vajrāṅga)
Tattva Level: pashu
Shiva Form: Paśupatinātha
The verse highlights the Shaiva ideal that true Śiva-bhakti purifies the inner self, making the mind steady (nirvikāra) and the intellect serene (prasanna-dhī), which are marks of readiness for grace and liberation.
By describing Vajrāṅga as a śivabhakta with a purified and tranquil mind, the text implies that Saguna worship—such as reverent devotion to Śiva and His liṅga—refines the devotee’s consciousness and prepares one to realize Śiva beyond disturbance.
The practical takeaway is reverent devotion and mental steadiness: daily japa of the Pañcākṣarī (“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”) with a calm, undistracted mind, supported by simple Shaiva disciplines like bhasma (tripuṇḍra) and Rudrākṣa where appropriate.
