It contrasts two inner outcomes in the face of divine power: fear that turns into surrender (folded hands) versus resistance that ends in destruction—teaching that aligning with dharma and seeking refuge is the wiser path under Shiva’s cosmic order.
The battlefield imagery points to Saguna Shiva’s governance through his divine forces: when beings oppose dharma, they meet the consequence; when they bow in humility, they move toward protection and grace—an attitude central to Linga-worship as surrender to Shiva as Pati (Lord).
Adopt prāñjali-bhāva (prayerful surrender) with japa of the Panchakshara—“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”—as a daily practice to subdue fear and the ‘inner daityas’ (anger, pride, delusion).
