The verse teaches that even a divinely empowered warrior succeeds through Śiva-smaraṇa—taking refuge in Śiva’s lotus-feet—showing that grace (anugraha) and devotion guide righteous action and remove obstacles on the path to dharma and liberation.
Remembering “Śiva’s lotus-feet” points to Saguna Śiva as the accessible refuge for devotees; in practice this is expressed through Linga-worship, where one approaches Śiva with reverence and surrender before undertaking any major vow, battle, or life-duty.
A simple takeaway is to begin with Śiva-smaraṇa and japa of the Pañcākṣarī mantra (“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”), mentally placing oneself at Śiva’s feet; if following Shaiva rites, one may also apply tripuṇḍra (bhasma) and offer water to the Śiva-liṅga as a preparatory act.
