మొదట శంభువు లింగసన్నిధిలో విష్ణువుకు దీనిని ప్రసాదించెను. విష్ణువు బ్రహ్మకు ఇచ్చెను; బ్రహ్మ సనకాది ఋషులకు అందించెను.
