Suta Goswami
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Sadāśiva
Sthala Purana: This is vrata-vidhi for a temporary, devotee-made pārthiva-liṅga rather than a fixed sthala-liṅga; hence no specific Jyotirliṅga origin is invoked.
Significance: Pārthiva-liṅga pūjā on Śivarātri is treated as highly efficacious: accessible to householders, it concentrates devotion and ritual purity, and is said to yield swift śiva-prasāda.
Type: stotra
Offering: pushpa
It teaches that devotion (parā-bhakti) expressed through disciplined worship—especially of the installed earthen Liṅga—purifies the devotee and aligns the soul (paśu) toward Śiva (Pati), the liberating Lord.
The verse emphasizes Saguna worship through the Liṅga as a sacred support (ālambana) for devotion—installing a pārthiva Liṅga and honoring Hara with upacāras so the mind becomes steady and receptive to Śiva’s grace.
Perform first-yāma worship of an installed earthen Liṅga with many upacāras (e.g., water, flowers, incense, lamps, naivedya) while maintaining focused bhakti; japa of the Pañcākṣarī (“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”) is a fitting accompaniment.
